My Dear Riversiders
First and foremost, my sincere best wishes to you all for the year 2016. Hope it will be a great year for all of you, with good health, all-round prosperity and repeated rounds of loud laughter!
As we complete the first half year of the Rotary year 2015-2016, we can look back with great satisfaction on what we have been able to achieve. The year started with a firm commitment to build toilets for toilet-less houses in villages around Pune. I feel happy and proud to inform you that as of December 31, 2015, we have completed construction of high quality 111 toilets in villages in Shirur taluka of Pune. I feel very grateful to everyone who contributed to this noble cause both financially and by putting in their valuable time and effort. Yet, we have miles to go. It is my dream to complete a total of 500 toilets during my term as President and I need your continued support.
On social front too, it has been a hectic yet joyful period. We have had 5 fine fellowships so far not counting the amazing 4-day trip to Rann of Kutch by a dozen of us during the Christmas. Effectively, six fellowships in 6 months! Stay tuned, for we have a lot more surprises in store! My sincere thanks to our Fellowship team and every one who contributed.
We had a lot of activities too, details of which have been covered in previous and current newsletters. Our activities in past 6 months have included Environment Awareness Drive, a Blood Camp, Eye Camp, Taking out school children to food factories and Science Museum and last but not the least, organizing a highly successful and enjoyable fund-raiser in form of Hasya Kavi Sammelan. My thanks to all the members for making these activities possible.
Another great news is that our Global Grant for Rs. 50 Lakhs+ has been since approved and the funds should be in our account by the end of the month. Yet again, thanks to great pains and efforts by some of our senior members.
We have added 4 new members in last 6 months, namely Mr. Amit Dakhane, Col. KC Sharma and Ms. Priya Grewal, Prerna Gaikwad. My heartiest welcome to them on behalf of the Club and my personal behalf as well.
There has been wide spread positive feedback about the speakers we have had in the past 6 months and we will continue to strive to bring in speakers who we not only learn from but can enjoy as well.
At the end, I take this opportunity to make a sincere request –a personal appeal- to all my wonderful Riversiders to please make time to attend all the meetings and fellowships more regularly
